If you're in the pay per click industry, how can you effectively increase your conversion rates to get better ROI?

Keyword research is the key. Get yourself some good keywords then add them to a good and to the point text ad.
If you are after conversions and you are using AdWords, go for search at first then try some Display Network ads combined with search and see if they really worth keeping, My suggestion is just use AdWords for search.
Oh, and of course, your website content has to match the text in the ads somehow. Period.
