It doesn't need a pro but you will need to have the ability to learn new things on your own and be strong in at least one programming language, such as php.
Check out these Facebook resources. If they make sense to you then you should be able to make at least a simple app - it is hard to say what is hard when no one on Yahoo! Answers will really know your programming skill level.
