What will be the next Twitter?

As Facebook looks to cut Twitter off at the pass with a redesign it will be interesting to see how this plays out. But before too long every company pumped up from the most recent Social Marketing Conference will be tweeting like crazy to convince itself it's fighting for it's slice of the pie. They may well be right, but what's next?

I have heard it's GEO based technology, or will this rely too heavily on early adopters and Iphone app freaks and get lost at the mass adoption stage.

I twitter a lot, but it still feels novel and I'm prone to get bored. If I find out my Mum is on it I'll doubt its significance as a tool fit for expressing myself (I use this term lightly).

I'll be interested to know your thoughts.

Have you seen del.icio.us? I think it's a brilliant idea. It's like when a friend sends you a link to a funny website, but the whole world doing that. I'm converted, it beats Twitter hands down.
