Facebook applications? - packerswes4 - 04-12-2014 01:29 PM

What are these things? Are they safe? Are they worth it? I've clicked on some of em and lots of people seem to have trouble getting them to work. Should I add one/some?

They're little add ons you can use to further network with people, basically designed so you have more things to do to invest more time in facebook. All they do is make it more like myspace, but a lot of people use facebook because it isn't like myspace, so it doesn't make much sense to me. They are all made by third parties, but are officially allowed by facebook, so they are safe, but nothing guarantees they'll work for you. I personally wouldn't advise using them just because they're not really useful, but if you want to it won't hurt.

These are applications made by external non facebook Developers.
Facebooks provides an API with "code" that interacts with their system. These external developers "call" the information they want from Facebook to use in their own application.
So if I am creating a Photo Slideshow Application.....if you agree to use it....using your Facebook Unique Id....I can call your photo album information and then use that information to put it in a slideshow format....
I am pretty sure it is safe to use....if they don't work its because there is probably a bug in their code...not Facebooks.
Site below has been around for quite some time...gives you all the info to creating your own application.
