Are the apps on Facebook safe or even worth it to use? Should I try one? - Nina - 10-15-2012 08:56 PM

here is an app I really want to use on Facebook. What I'd like to know is if the apps on Facebook is safe? I doubt all are but most people use them so that's what makes me unsure. There is one in specific I want to use for my cover page since it has many nice covers I really like, from this site: http://www.firstcovers.com/

Yes, I know this is a basic question, but I'm somewhat new to the site and never used apps before. I personally don't like most of them and find them annoying that they are advertised on my page but I found one app that I'd really like to use. Thing is, it asks me for my profile info, email address, account info, and photos. I just don't get the last part really like why do they need my photos for?? Giving away all this info to an app on Facebook does worry me, but I noticed a lot of people used the app on this site (about 700,000 people do). Plus my friends use apps (different one though) all the time. And even recommend me to them though I usually don't bother. :/

Anyways is this safe? I'd like to know in general if the apps are safe or how can i know which onesare, like does it go by the info they request you? Plus specifically the one on that site I mentioned is what I'd really want to know most of all, if nothing.

BQ: Also if anyone can share any bad experiences they may have had? Or if you used this site what you think?? Yeah I know I'm a bit worried but I just want to be careful and make sure this info I give them won't be used/shared on other sites or anything bad. And so that's what makes me unsure whether using apps on facebook is even worth it. Thanks!

many of them can be quite intrusive. A friend of mine added on to share pictures, and it started taking them from her hard drive without her knowing.
Just be careful and see what access it is requesting when you go to run it.
