So if I buy something online can that purchase be linked to my IP?
So in that case how would they see passed a proxy?

If it's a secured transaction, yes....it will capture the IP address of the computer. The merchant is usually the only one that can see that though, and they would have to give it out.

Yes, IP address is usually the very first thing that is logged as soon as you reach the order page. It's part of the online merchants' security measures.
