Is a facebook a place where you are friends with people you have no clue who they are? - 029 - 04-15-2014 05:09 AM

I've read this post before and it's says something like: facebook, a place where you're friends with people you have no idea who they are". Today I was just looking at some people's facebook (people that I know) and they are friends with like people they totally don't even talk to, and some are friends with I doubt they even know who they are... it's like, people are friends with people that are in totally two different worlds. Like fro example, this popular person is friends with some pretty unknown kid and I doubt they even know each other at all. I doubt they've even seen this person at school. Seems like everyone is like this Just randomly friending everyone....It's like everyone is friends with everyone.... do people just like randomly accept friends requests? I don't have a facebook because I don't like it, so I don't know much about this whole facebook thing.... it's so weird..... Lol are you people the same?
Do people just friend everyone that goes to teh same school as them? lol it's so strange....I don't get it..

it's not intended to be like that, but lots of kids use it as a way to appear popular, other kids play the facebook games which you can only advance in if they get items from their friends... so the more friends they have, the better they do at the games

they dont realize that they can just play the same games on zynga.com and not have it connected to thier facebook account and be able to get those items other ways

most social networks have been like this (minus the games part) as people really do think that they are popular or famous if they have a lot of "friends" in social media, but in reality, it just makes them appear desperate, fake and insecure by having a lot of social media "friends"

i'm not sure what age group you fall into, but when you get older, you will see that your more mature friends actually do use facebook the way in which is was intended - to stay in touch with people you already know - people you went to high school and college with 20 years ago... your family....etc
