Suicidal Friend? - Cassiopeia - 04-15-2014 08:29 AM

I have become really close to a girl I met back in January and she is Suicidal, when I met her I saw her cuts and she is always really down when I talk to her on social media. What can I do to help her (She also lives in a different country

She doesn't want to tell anyone, she truly believes that no one cares and has tried to commit suicide several times, I have asked her to tell someone but every time she says "no one cares" "I should just die" "no one will miss me"

please help!

She lives in another country, you cannot help her. You are also an individual who deserves happiness, so stop feeling responsible for something you can do nothing about.

Most countries have their own "suicide prevention" helpline. It is imperative that you do your best to notify your friend's mom or dad (or other family member) about her intentions, too.

There are certain times when a friend must break a confidence and *tell* a "secret", including threats of suicide or homicide, suspected child/teen abuse or neglect, or if he/she is causing harm to him/herself.

The toll-free 24/7 helpline for those who are feeling suicidal in the U.S. -

1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Perhaps you can give the U.S. helpline a call and let them know about your situation re: that friend who resides in another country.

To try to locate a suicide prevention helpline in your friend's country, how about going to http://www.yahoo.com and typing into search "'her country and suicide prevention helpline'".
