I'm in the "Witness Protection Program": How do I make my new Facebook profile totally private? - jimbo - 04-17-2014 04:07 AM

I just want to share photos/updates with family & friends at my hometown, but I need to stay private/protected here at my hideaway. Is it possible?

And is there a "1-click solution" for total privacy when you sign up on Facebook? (If not, what are the individual steps/settings to achieve this, if it's even achievable)?

If you're in the witness protection program then you should stay off Facebook for a while. You can still use email and the telephone to stay in contact with your family. Telling your friends where you are is stupid - word gets around.

Contact facebook and ask them. I wouldnt advertise the fact that you are in a "Witness Protection Progam", for safety reasons.

Probably a troll, but I'll bite just a little.

1. Facebook doesn't like people who keep everything private. The entire website is based on the idea that people want to share everything.

2. I doubt you're using your real name/history on Facebook furthermore, I doubt you'd be allowed to post images of yourself on such a public website.

I don't think you should go on facebook in the first place if your in the witness protection program. No matter what privacy settings you have, facebook can put the photos anywere they want. If you google images your name then profile picture will come up from facebook anyway so it is not at all private. It's quite risky so i wouldn't for your own safety as even the privacy settings on facebook cannot be trusted. Facebook is a site to share with everyone not just your family and friends.

Im sorry if this is dissapointing, but i think you should try to communicate with them in some other way.
