How can I hide group membership from Facebook friends?!? - Abbey - 04-18-2014 01:38 AM
I have been added to a few religious groups by a close family member and don't want to offend them by leaving the groups if I can avoid it! But also, although I agree with the basic message of said groups, I have many friends who do not and who might take offence at them which is something else I would like to avoid.
Basically I'd like a 'best of both worlds' sort of solution and avoid offending anyone by just hiding my membership of the group from my facebook friends (except those in the group of course).
I have googled looking for a solution but the solutions are 4+ years old and Facebook settings have changed so they don't work for me. Is it still possible to hide this information?
(That is, when group suggestions come up on the right, I'd rather these groups + my name didn't crop up! I know I can hide them from my timeline but that's not really the issue I don't think? Unless this will also hide it elsewhere?).

Its unlikely they'll notice you left unless they trawl through the membership list regularly.
People who take offence at you for not believing what they do aren't worth not offending IMO.
