There are many ways. The first and may be the most important one is search engine optimization. To get the best results with it you will need to optimize your site first and add valuable content.
But there are other techniques here are the ones I use:
Youtube videos with link back to your site.
Sharing documents with your links.
Twitter, Facebook and Google .

Adding your site RSS directories.
Blog commenting.

Here are some good ways:
1.) Write a guest posts for other sites in your niche;
2.) Post comments on related blogs and forums;
3.) Do some quality keyword research (SEO) for your future articles;
4.) Create social network (fb, twitter, linkedin...) profiles and post updates from your site.
