I got a PS4 last week, and I was about to enter my Facebook details when my dad said; "Oh no, don't sign into Facebook, it will post stuff like '[My Name] has turned on his PS4' and '[My Name] has earned this trophy'". I know it posts clips and stuff, but is he right? Does it post stuff that I didn't ask to be posted? Or is it just videos?

It can do that, but only if you give it permission to. When linking your facebook account part of the setup asks if you want it to post things.
