Do you have mutual friends? You can always start with "hey aren't you friends with so-and-so?" and go from there. If she's near you just make a comment about something around you, like something someone just said or something. You can always strike up a conversation over social media. You can even just flash her a smile. There's also nothing wrong with asking about the homework - that's actually a pretty good way. Or you could ask if she's ever taken a certain class or teacher because you're thinking about taking it or you're struggling with it, etc. Asking for the time is a good excuse, too. I had a cute guy ask me that yesterday claiming he didn't have his phone even though I saw him with it before class haha

Most important thing is to be yourself! Us girls aren't that difficult to approach, my biggest tip would be to make her laugh! If a boy can make a girl laugh he instantly becomes more attractive to her. Try not to be too corny though and just imagine she's one of your mates, relax and the conversation will flow!

Good luck!

Okay, what I learned recently is the whole point of an initial conversation is to peak her interest and make her want to know more about... on a date. So just introduce yourself and then casually compliment her on her hair or something and then keep the dialogue going for a min or two. Then, you stop and say "Sorry, I really have to go but we should hang out sometime." If you were nice to her, casual, not awkward and she's available she will more than likely say "Sure, why not" Then get her phone number. Good luck!
