(~) i keep trying to search it on google but its like its not registering or something. What does the little squiggly thing mean, iv seen people use it on tumblr and i wanted to know what it means when people use it on there

It means approximately or about. It might mean something different because your on tumblr but in math it means approximately or about.

It's called a tilde. Is is used as an accent mark and a separator like a dash -. The complete definition according to Wikipedia is here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilde

most people don't even use it for it's ~actual use~ lol see what I did there? it's kind of annoying but oh well. is that what you mean? because if so it's kind of just decoration i guess.

It's called Tilde and it is used to mean "approximately" or "about"
for example I could say "there were ~100 people at the party"
and it means "there were about 100 people at the party"
But I mainly know it because it opens the developer console in most video games. Especially games on steam or games using the Source Engine.
