differance in downloading a song and streaming one on megabites? - J - 04-23-2014 12:27 AM

Does it take the same amount off mega bites to stream a song as it would to download it because your technically downloading it for that few minutes you listen to it or does it use less mega bites to stream rather then download the song completely

A lot of times, downloading is a higher quality file. So streaming would use less MBs

Yes you can download higher quality songs than what you are listening to but for simplicity you download and stream the same song at the same quality. Now assuming it's the same file so coming from the same site basically, the bandwidth usage would be exactly the same for the streaming song as it would be for the downloaded song.
If you leave the page and return or refresh it the the streaming song will have to be re streamed. Requiring the same megabytes to stream again.
Generally if you like listening, watching etc over and over then downloading will save you the megabytes and your bandwidth.

If compression is not used on file then both downloading and streaming take same amount of time if compressed file downloaded than streaming take long time because stream not use compression on file.
