I have centurylink and it is TERRIBLE my parents are thing about switching to verizon we dont need phone or tv just internet.

Verizon, eh? They still have that in your area? I'd presume it's pretty decent, then. Get FIOS, though.

It doesn't matter much who is the provider, it's the max speed they've got you at. Before you drop Verizon, find out what their higher speeds are and compare costs or packages you may have.
