If you have a preferred section of Yahoo Answers, you can browse questions and look for answers you find interesting or intelligent. Then look at that person's profile page to see if their email or messenger is activated and say hello, or ask if they would like to chat.
Make sure to send a message other than the popular spam message of "Hi. Please add me to your contact list so we can chat."
Mention that you liked an answer they posted and would like to talk soon.

if you go to certain websites on with forums you can talk to people with the same intrests as you for exapmple i use this one alot http://sdarmy.shanedawsontv.com/
