Most directories are almost useless for SEO, a few paid directories and the human edited DMOZ.org directories are worth your while.

To maintain a "natural" backlink profile and avoid penalty your backlink sources should be diversified, perhaps using no more than 20% directories.

Don't try to do on daily basis directory submission, get some backlinks from high-quality directory sites.

Hi,

Forget about building links if you dont have the know how. You can easily offend uncle Google without knowing about it. There is a strategy I am using that does not require a single backlinks and it works like a bomb. I am not going to tell you everything about it because I am charginf for it but htis is how it works..

1. Make sure you have your keywords on the title of your post.
2. Make sure the category of your post also has the relevant keywords
3. insert an image with the right keywords
4. Embed a video whose title has your keywords in it
5. Copy paste the title of video to your post and make it H2 tag

Thats it, try it without building a single backlink to it and hopefully uncle Google has not penelised your blog because it that the case, nothing will ever work for you

Now directory submission has no value in SEO. They are useless. Try to make natural links according to Google Guidelines.

Start with High PR Directories, there is no limit for directory submissions, but most of the popular Directory websites not accepting links these days. if anyone accept your link for free check there PR, DA, PA before submitting your link.

Do not submit link on PHP LD and Pligg directories - it consider ad SPAM.
