To watch BBC iPlayer outside the UK you can try to use special software for changing IP address. I advise reading this article:

There are plenty out there to choose from but alot of the larger ones from what I hear are starting to get blocked by the iPlayer site itself. I used the Anglo service for Beeb & ITV.

Firstly free proxys won't in general work at all well, and they will have major bandwidth issues, you need a proper UK VPN to get around the problem and one that has enough bandwidth for full streaming video, most free ones won't have and certainly not at peak times.
