Hey
My friends have started getting Twitter, and I was just wondering what it was... just a brief description of what sort of things happen on it, what sort of things you post and what names you have...

Twitter is a social networking site where you follow celebrities and you can keep up to date on tour dates, what they are getting up to and that kind of thing. You can send tweets to your friends too though and keep up to date with what they are doing too.

you can do allsorts on twitter. You can follow anybody at all, which just means that all their tweets appear in your timeline. you can tweet anybody anything you want. a tweet is just basically a message you write that anybody can read, and apppears on all your followers timelines. you can tweet a message directly someone by putting their @username before the message, or you can sent a direct message to them privately, which nobody else can see. Tweets are also limited to 140 characters. If you see any tweets you like, you can retweet them to all your followers, and you can favourite them. You can put a picture of yourself as your icon/avatar, and you can write a bio about yourself, 160 characters to sum up yourself. You write your actual name as your name, and you can make absolutely any @username you want, providing nobody else already has that username. It sounds quite complicated but trust me, you get used to it after a week or two!!!
