Does a Modem need a cable/internet provider? - Gentlemenheat883 - 04-27-2014 11:59 PM

I ordered a Modem and hoped to get fast internet connection. But I read the rest of the description and it says it works with most cable providers... Does a modem need a cable provider?

If you don't have an account with an internet provider, your modem has nothing to connect to. Yes, you need an ISP. Most ISPs supply their own modems, and not all of them will let you use your own modem. Better check with the company you are connected to (I'm assuming because you are online now,, you are connected to the internet) and see if you can use the modem you ordered.

Either a cable or a DSL phone line connection depending ion what type you bought. You need to subscribe to a broadband connection.
