How to share internet connection? - punyboy865 - 04-28-2014 12:12 AM

Is it possible to share internet connection from a desktop computer (with DSL) to a laptop without using a router (like wifi)?
If yes, how?
The desktop computer is windows XP while the laptop is in windows 7.

You can't do it wirelessly, but you could do it via Ethernet crossover cable by using Internet connection sharing. You would have to have your desktop on and connected to the DSL for it to work.

Best way though, would be to buy a wireless router

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive, you can get a wireless N for about $40 or a wireless G for around $25. Either one will work fine with a DSL Internet connection.

This will permit you to use your laptop anywhere within your router's wireless range without having to drag a cable around. Also no need to have the desktop on all of the time or set up Internet sharing.

Good Luck...
