The laptop is an HP ProBook 6570b fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Ethernet and Network controller are both disabled for some reason.

find your hp Ethernet driver on internet.

why dont you try going to your control panel then go to network and internet below that there should be a link that says network and sharing center and then try clicking trouble shoot problems.
or you could click on set up new connection or network. It would prompt you to enable your ethernet and network controller.
