Ever heard of the phrase "What you post online lasts forever?"

Well I just heard that even if you delete a post on facebook/myspace it is still there in the archives for colleges and employers to look at...

There are somethings I've posted on facebook/myspace that I want permanently deleted...how do I do that?

It is true that the information is there forever, because there are services that essentially take photographs of websites and store those in archives. There is no way to permanently delete everything you've posted (which is why it's SO much easier for it to be avoided in the first place). For example, I posted something in a group on Facebook that got copied and posted on non-Facebook websites. I discovered this when I googled my own name and saw the quotation attributed to me.
