i have the hp pavilion entertainment pc
i think i may have a virus and is there a way to reset the whole laptop like it was brand new from a shop without the disc drive or anything as i got if off my grandad and he didnt gie me it
when i go on the internet ( google chrome ) i search something and i get a box come up and its really annoying it comes up constant with different adds
how can i rest the whole thing like ive just bought it
please all help apreciated !

Sounds like you have the Pass Show virus! Easy fix man, don't need to reset anything. Just search in the File Explorer for PassShow. Delete it pronto. PassShow killed a PC of my dad's and we got it on his new Dell and had to factory reset it.
If you wanna be REALLY sure, download Adwcleaner and run a scan to fix the issues. You'll need to restart your PC.
Also, if that doesn't work, try downloading the free trial of Malwarebytes. Run a Full System Scan (it takes 45 minutes to do a full scan on my laptop) and let it clean up everything.

First, go to the google chrome extensions and see if you see any you don't want or looks suspicious.
TOOLS > EXTENSIONS > (Remove any that you don't know)
If that doesn't work and you want to reset the whole laptop. I would backup all the files I want and reinstall my copy of windows 7 or 8.

Download AdwCleaner from here

Install and run it.
Download Malwarebytes from here - the FREE version
https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/
Install > Update > Run it
Let it delete anything it finds - you will need to OK this.
These two should help.
If you are still having problems Google ....free pc help ...... and register with the site at the top of the list.
There will be trained security experts there to help.

Unless your anti virus software has indicated a virus ( and likely removed it ) you probably need to adjust your settings to not allow these irritating pop-ups to appear. You really shouldn't need to reset ( perform a complete System Recovery ), to reset the computer back to factory specs. You'd likely be right back where you are now in a matter of days. Just take a look at the link I've provided to see how you can set your controls for the browser you're talking about. Also make sure you install and use any anti virus software you feel comfortable with. I use the following "free" anti virus software and recommend you try one or all of them. Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, can be programmed, and does an excellent job. Next would be Malwarebytes ( at .org ). Make sure you get the free version, and SUPERAntiSpyware free version. You can install more than one anti virus protection, just be sure to only run them one at a time to prevent conflict with each other. Be aware of the web sites and any links you visit to protect yourself from virus problems.
