I have a Twitter question for all you smart people...? - Sarah :) - 04-28-2014 02:19 AM

If you are following someone on Twitter, but they are not following you and write an @reply in your tweet can they read it?

For example, I am following Tom Felton on Twitter, and I sent an @TomFelton tweet saying I liked the Harry Potter film. Will it come up on his home page?

I really don't get Twitter!
Please help me someone,
Thanks
x
i sent

@TomFelton I finally saw Harry Potter yesterday as I've been so busy... You were amazing in it ! Good God boy, you're gorgeous ! x

and he tweeted one minute later,

Thanks lovely!

Now was that to me ? or not ?!

Yeah it will. But if someone doesn't reply to you who you have sent a reply to, its probably because they have so many. Because if you go on Tom Felton's page for e.g, look how many people are following him, so think how many replies he's gonna get

Yes he will.
If you put @ in front of a user name they will see the comment but if they are not following you they will not see any other comment you post.

Twitter is hard to get used to when you are used to using things like Facebook, try the finding people bit and type in something (ie I <3 harry potter) and it will bring up a list of people with harry potter in their user name.

Type the same thing in the search engine and you will get recent tweets frompeopel who have mentioned Harry Potter in a post, geddit!

Follow people and leave them comments and you'll soon have lots of followers Smile

EDIT: it was to you if he put @your username before the comment..otherwise it may not have been to you..or he just typed and forgot to @ it lol.

1) yes, whether he's following you or not he will see your message in his @mentions page. but not his main twitter stream page.

2) no harm in thinking the reply was to you but officially, if the message was directed at you it shouldve started w/ @yourusername or you wouldve been mentioned in the tweet
