It is as famous, why it doesn't get notoriety that the others do I believe is what you are asking.
Google became popular because of their no frills, no ads search page, just find me what I want with no distractions, that put them as a unique portal on the web, the most often used function of the internet is to search, they made themselves unique here.
Twitter and Facebook gained their popularity because they brought forward the interpersonal communications aspect of the net, getting back in touch with old friends who move away, staying in touch with family, and for those that like it, seeing what celebrities have to say.

I have had it on but since I got a windows 8 everything disappears on me so I want it back and to stay on
