A great way to do this is to blog on topics that are of interest to many people. You can do this by checking to see what is trending at any particular time. I know that silver and gold are always a hot topic, so for my business I blog about those subjects. Good luck!

You can do a lot of things to get traffic to your website and make it popular. But remember that it will take time. one of the things that you can do is help out people on other blogs and forums relevant to your theme and casually leave a link to your website but don't over do this. You can also advertize using google adwords. Hope this helped.
