Some people treat LinkedIn like Facebook, and they try to get as many connections as possible. This is particularly true of head hunters and recruiters. However, LinkedIn is best used as a tool to stay connected to people you actually know. I heard good advice from a social media person once that your LinkedIn connections shouldn't include anyone that you couldn't actually call up and talk with at the drop of a hat.

Umm, yeah. That's the whole point of Linked In. You know you can just ignore requests to link, don't you? No big deal.
