What benefit does Facebook get from acquiring whatsapp? - highpear111 - 04-28-2014 04:07 AM

It paid 19 billion dollars only to run whatsapp independently. What's the use of the deal to Facebook? Some news reports said that fb panicked and sealed the deal. But why panic? And what after acquisition?

Facebook as the name suggests wants to be in you face al;l the time. It cannot afford to lose people. So the next best thing to keep people flocking to it is to use some kind of messaging service that is already quite well known and used. If Fb can get more people from Whats-app to use Facebook then what more can they want.

No one panicked. It was simply a well calculated movel on the part of Fb. After the acquisition Fb can sit pretty knowing that people using Whats-app may also start accounts with Fb. so in one single sweep Fb has acquired so many million of Whats-app users whio may start using Fb because many of their friends are on Fb.

Fb thrives because when someone starts using Fb he / she will invite other friends to use it as well. The idea is similar to' birds of a feather flock ' together. So when someone using Whats-app invites another friend to use Whats-app, the second person (invitee, if he/she joins) is actually coming to Fb.

After having the Whats-app account for a year , they will start charging to use it, so then, who gets the money, so charged, if Whats-app is owned by Fb ?

The security services told them to buy it so it is easier to spy on you.
