Either you or a friend tagged you in more pics that shoe up at the top of your profile. Just click the upper right corner of those pics and an X will appear. When you click the X, it will remove from your profile (but not your pics). Keep doing this until your banner is back.

I know! Mine is gone too and I hit the x on all my tagged pictures!
