Im not sure if this is an ad or popup? - LA 2009-2010 CHAMPIONS - 04-28-2014 10:26 AM

but i was watching some porn and i noticed this tab popped up

im using google chrome and it has a safelock next to its name, in there it tells me that ive been charged with storing child porn and stuff and it has my ip address, country, state and location.

it says fbi all over the page

im freaking out because all i was doing is watching porn.

but one thing that makes me doubt its real is that in the middle of the page it has what appears to be pictures of underage people have sex.

the website is police.policeweblab

i cant copy and paste anything from the sight and if i was being charged why would they inform me over the internet?

so is this an ad or..

at the bottom of the page it says moneypak and choose amount to pay

and use voucher code and crap

but how does it have my ip address, city and state that i live in?

and it wouldnt let me close the tab it say my browser is blocked and my data is encrypted so i had to restart my computer

and the tabs name was mandiant usa cyber sercurity

The site is just trying to scare you. I would use a popup blocker, scan with Malwarebytes Free and remove everything found, and clear all cookies and history. The locking up of the browser indicates the possibility of an unwanted download, hence the malware scan recommendation.

The ransom demand indicates a drive-by download of a trojan horse. I would do a scan in Safe Mode or from a cleanup CD in this case. Use Windows Defender Offline.

IP Address is broadcast by your router, not your computer, and can be WAAAY off in its location of you. I am often located by my IP Address as being 50 miles from my home.

Lesson learned, don't visit that site again, OK?

I just had the same thing happen to me a few minutes ago. I was almost scared to death. After seeing that someone else had encountered the same problem, I can see that it was a site trying to scare me, and you as well. It was I think an ad or ransomware. If the police/FBI really wanted to track you down like that, I think they would just come to your house.

I can tell you for sure that this is a virus. It blocked my own browser and I had to struggle trying to shut it down. In fact, I just could't do it. Then I performed a hard reset, rebooted the PC, and it was gone. It didn't reappear with next startup. From what I heard, if you see this message you need to reset your browser. Not sure if this helps though.
