I reaaaally want a username that someone has already obtained. The user has been inactive since 2010, can I do anything about it?

The only thing you can do is try and contact the owner of the account and ask for it. Twitter will not delete inactive users as they are still users inactive or not.

there's nothing you can do but you could try a username similar to the one you want

i feel your pain haha there are so many good usernames that are inactive
the only thing you can really do, is report the account for spam and ask a bunch of people to do so and hopefully it gets deleted and you get the username!
