I think someone hacked into my account, how can I stop them? - Marilyn - 04-28-2014 11:36 AM

Someone has been sending my contacts spam emails. I tried changing my password but it's still happening. What else can I do?

Sounds like you have a virus or malware, run a scan.

What account? E-mail or social media?

As Mark suggested, you need to run a scan to see if you have any malware or viruses on your computer. Once you clear that up, change your password again, but don't use something that someone can easily guess at. It has to be completely random.

Also, if you use public hotspots, you should look into using a proxy service, but find a reputable one. Free proxies are usually run by hackers and they will use your information. A reputable proxy service will never monitor your connections and every connection is encrypted so hackers can't get to your info.
