I have a single internet connection to my desktop. But I want to share that internet connection to my laptop. My desktop has two Ethernet ports. Can I use some kind of software on my desktop to allow my laptop to use the internet, which will be connected to the second Ethernet port on the desktop?
I remember there is a software that can do that, but I can't remember its name. Can any one help me?
And hey I only have a single internet connection and I don't have a hub or switch or a router. And I don't have the money to by them.

By going into control pannel, network connections, you can bridge the two ethernet ports. Do some googleing for tutorials.

What OS is installed on the desktop?
If you go into your network connections on the desktop, you can "bridge" the two network adapters. I believe this also requires the windows ICS software that comes with windows.

Well the other option I can thing off is to get a Network Pair Splitter which is cheaper than a router or a hub

Yes, you could solve your problem, without actually buing any new hardware.
Presumably your OS is Windows, and there's something called as ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) that you could make use of.
