Trying to promote my forum? - Roxy - 04-28-2014 05:36 PM

So I have a forum http://www.splurge.boards.net

What are the best ways to promote it? I've tried Facebook, Twitter, YouTube even and nothing seems to be working. I can't just spam other forums with it (even though that has gotten me members but it also has gotten me yelled at for "advertising"). I've even tried a paid service (Google AdWords) but ended up canceling because that wasn't really working either and I don't exactly have a lot of money. Any suggestions? I've tried forumpromotion.net (or whatever it's called). I will purchase an actual domain name once the forum is a little more active.

You can hire an experience forum promoter from freelance marketplace.

There are sites that you can hire people to post in your forum.

It would probably be more cost effective than google advertising

It depends on what your forum is about. You should particularly focus on the topics that your forum would cover and try to advertise in those topic areas.

What you could do is put a link to your forum on your forum signature for other forums. That does bring people... But getting them to stay is harder.
