SEO is a broad and widely debated subject. There are 100's of factors that search engines use to rank your website.
To begin with make sure your site complies with the on-page SEO guidlines (do a search for them)
After that you need to start building some good quality links from relevant websites (not an easy task), it would also be beneficial to you to start a facebook and twitter page for you business

Seo basically contains two types of techniques On page and Off page. On page techniques deal with your website analysis including keyword research, meta tag or meta description and also checks the robot.txt or sitemap file in your website to help the crawler to visit your website and checks all the links and pages in the website.
Off page techniques includes link building of your website to another websites by directory submission, social bookmarking, article and blog writing related to your website and submit them into various blog and article submission sites. It also includes search engine submission and classified ads to promote website.
Then the SMM(Social Media Marketing) part starts.
