Is there any relief in sight for rural satellite internet subscribers? - Reprobate Knucklehead - 04-28-2014 06:09 PM

I have satellite internet and it's the worst internet you can imagine. I'm working with a massive 6mbps download and 1 whole mps upload. I had hopes Air Advantage would come to the rescue, but they cant get a signal for all the trees as their technology is line of sight. While AA was here trying to get a signal, the tech told me Air Advantage was working on antenna technology that could receive a signal through foliage.

I don't care how they do it, so the first company that offers reliable high speed internet out here in the sticks has me as a customer for life.

Please tell me smart minds are thinking about providing reliable high speed internet to rural areas now served only by satellite.

Thanks.

haha. 2 second ping.

I had satellite and it was atrocious. And they lock you into contracts.

SOme places have antenna internet, wherein an antenna connects you directly to an ISP's tower. We have "country wireless". so far, we live about 4 miles from a local small town.

Else you can use cell phones to connect.

No there isn't any relief, what you are seeing now is much better than it was 5 years ago.But if you are getting 6mbps count yourself lucky.
