I've looked into putting a photo onto google listing which I've done, I've checked it and it says it has worked. (I linked up my google+ account with my website, which is the way I've been taught) but google still doesn't show the photo. Do you know how long google takes to put the photo on, or is there something I'm missing. My website is http://www.sobey-photography.co.uk

it takes seconds, you upload it via the add picture button

I thought you had to have the author mentioned on the page somewhere as well as just the link from the Google+ account - at least that's how I do it. From memory, when I first added the Google authorship stuff it took about 24 hours to show, now when I publish a new page the photo appears straight away.
On a side note, I've looked at your source code and wanted to make the following comments from an SEO point of view :-
- You have spelled canonical wrongly
- There are lots of meta tags that you don't need for Google, these include Keywords, rating, revisit-after, robots (both of them), language, distribution, icbm, and the geo tags.
Take a look at https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/79812?hl=en to see which meta tags Google reads.
