How do I get an inactive twitter handle? - Karen - 04-28-2014 07:46 PM

I would love to obtain the twitter handle @Munchkin or even moreso @Bri since that's my name. The twitter handle @Bri has 0 tweets, and their avatar is the standard egg, and has never been active I'm guessing. The handle @Munchin hasn't been active in over 6 months, and my current twitter handle is @Briianagrace. So i was wondering if it was possible in any way to contact twitter about possibly gaining access or getting the usernames to these two handles? Thanks for the help!

Twitter encourages users to actively log in and use Twitter when they register an account. To keep your account active, be sure to log in and Tweet (i.e., post an update) within 6 months of your last update. Accounts may be permanently removed due to prolonged inactivity. Please use your account once you sign up!

* How does Twitter determine inactivity? *
Inactivity is based on a combination of tweeting, logging in, and the date an account was created. Please note that you may not be able to tell whether an account is currently inactive, as not all signs of account activity are publicly visible.

What if a potentially inactive account is using my registered trademark as its username or account name?

If your trademark is being used on an account that appears to be inactive, please see Twitter's trademark policy for additional information. If you need to submit a report, be sure to provide all of the trademark registration information outlined in our trademark policy.

What if I have a request for a username from an account that looks inactive, but I don't have a registered trademark?

We are currently working to release all inactive usernames in bulk, but we do not have a set time frame for when this will take place. If a username you would like is being used by an account that seems inactive, you should consider selecting an available variation for your use on Twitter. In general, adding numbers, underscores, or abbreviations can help you come up with a great available username.
