New to this. Help on craigslist!? - Myra - 04-28-2014 08:01 PM

I am trying to sell a computer on craigslist and a guy told me that he will pay for the shipping fees plus the price of the computer through paypal. I am new to both craigslist and paypal so how do I know if this guy is for real or if it is a scam.

PayPal is the safest way to pay for anything on the internet.
However, you the seller, should have a PayPal with a credit card or a bank account linked
to it. That way,the buyer does not know any of your personal information.
Warning: Do not ship anything until you have the total amount plus the shipping costs in your
account. Do not offer any refunds.
This is how you protect yourself.

With Craigslist, you should only deal locally and in cash.

Most likely this email came from a scammer.

They create emails that look like they are from PayPal but they are fake. The email will state that you must enter the tracking number from the shipment before they will release the money. PayPal does not actually do this. The scammers goal is just to get you to ship the computer without being paid.

Where are you suppose to ship it? If it is anywhere out of the county, it is definitely a scam.

Craigslist has a big warning about this thief. He is trying to cheat you. You must do all CL sales in person and for cash. Nothing else. That buyer is in Nigeria.

No Craigslist buyer will ever make a purchase without viewing the item in person. That's why they have ebay.
