is this considered high speed internet? - nicemusic344 - 04-28-2014 08:04 PM

I have wireless internet, I did a speed test and it came back with
Download Speed: 5994 kbps (749.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 803 kbps (100.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Is that considered high speed? Also, broadband connection is just when the cord from the wall is connected to my computer, right?

Thanks
I did a test through another website and it showed 5.68 mbps.....is that better?

no not at all um i don't know how you even got through web pages. high speed is usually around 20 mbps megabytes per second but even six mags download speed is really good buy 5994 kbps is like dead.

technically anything that is more than the old 56K dial-up is called high speed.
Yours sounds like the mid grade package from the phone company. I've seen worse, recently.
Broadband refers to the entire system of getting a high amount of data back and forth. It does not refer to 1 piece of wire.
p.s. 1000 Kb is 1 MB so 5994 IS 6 meg
