All I want to do for now is buy my domain name, so I can get my business cards made up.
In the mean time I have someone designing my webpage/website. What the different between a webpage and website?

Registering a domain name(not buying) and hosting are two separate processes. Many people advise you should use separate entities for domain name registration and hosting.
There are many domain names registered that are not hosted.
Arrange hosting when your website is ready from someone like Hostgator. Once you have organised hosting for your domain name, you will be able to set up email addresses for your business cards even before your website is uploaded (A webpage is part of a website - a website could have 1 page or it could have thousands.)
