Connect to the internet using wifi and ethernet at the same time.. merging two internet connections? - Dustin - 04-28-2014 08:32 PM

Is there any way to connect to one internet connection through wifi and another through ethernet and then join them together so the internet speed is combined?.. I'm running a mac book pro with snow leopard..

either through wifi and ethernet
or ethernet and usb 3G stick
or wifi and usb 3g stick
or all three even Tongue

is that possible? with or without uTorrent compatibility..

The short answer would be no, its not possible. You can, of course, connect to all the networks, but only 1 can be utilized. if you want faster internet speeds contact your isp and upgrade your internet plan. use wired internet and a speedy browser that won't slow down as much, like google chrome.

Even if you could team your connections together, you will still be limited by your Internet connection speed.

Your WiFi speed is probably either 11 Mb, 54 Mb, 150 Mb, or 300 Mb, depending on your wireless card and wireless access point.

Your wired connection is probably either 1000 Mb (1 Gb), 100 Mb, depending on the age of your computer and the age of your switch or router.

Your actual connection to the Internet is probably somewhere between 0.25 Mb (256 Kb) and 6 Mb depending on the type of connection you have. It could be faster than that, but the odds aren't very high that it is.

So what I'm saying is that the connection between your computer and your router or modem isn't the issue. It's most likely your Internet connection itself.
