what is it for? I know it's kinda similar to "Like" on facebook but with a bit difference.
In my goodle plus page it says "600+".Does this help my page to get viewed more or something?
Do you like become popular if it goes to "10000+"? lol

It's shows the popularity of that G+ page or any update.
Ex: If you post an update on your profile then it's got +1000 likes, what does mean by this ...?
Your posting is more useful for all so they +1 your update.

google launch his G+ as a social networking site.
and it's very important for seo point of view.
more likes , more visit and google give positive response. like keyword rank up , website rank.
