How to make dog slop for sheepdogs? - Christina - 04-30-2014 06:09 AM

How do you make dog slop for Maremma Sheepdogs? My dog can't eat wheat, but most dog foods contain wheat, I heard that slop is healthier for a working dog anyways, does anyone know how to make it?

Have you looked into Grain Free foods? There are many companies that make grain free, like Merrick, Blue, Wellness.

Have you looked into feeding a prey model raw diet? A lot easier than making a slop for your dog, and there's more benefits as well.

It's essentially feeding your dog what their wild counterparts would eat. Raw muscle meat, organs, and bone... No grains, vegetables, etc. they're carnivores, after all.
My dogs have been on a raw diet for a year now and thee have just been so many incredible changes because of it. They both have pearly white teeth (which, at 4 & 7 years old, is incredible), no health issues, less shedding, and softer fur. Not to mention their energy levels are astounding compared to before raw.

Definitely look into it if you want a healthy diet! And it's as easy as taking chunks of meat straight from the package and putting it in their bowl. There's tons of yahoo groups and Facebook groups with more info (or you can message me)!
