Are Police Likely to get involved in this Facebook confliction? - â–¡â–¡â–¡â–¡â–¡â–¡â–¡â–¡ - 05-01-2014 10:10 PM

Basically; a fake account has been created and used to send me messages that basically constantly critcise my spelling and grammer and general life. Due to them harassing me like this, could I report them to the police? No actual threat has been made to me by them, and I have actually threatened them with my family through the messages, so could I actually report them to the police and would they be liable to actually do anything regarding IP address, etc? Or would I be the one in the wrong? Please help!

If no threats have been made, then they won't do anything. Is there a reason you can't unfriend them and block them from posting? That is the easiest and most sensible thing to do.

you could report them, but I don't think much will get done.

The police won't do anything if there has been no crime. Messaging you and criticising your spelling and grammar is not a crime
The police will tell you to just set your profile to Private, delete any Friends you do not personally know, do not accept Friend requests from anyone you have never met in person, and block anyone else who messages you

if a real threat exists they'll take into account of which you're talking about, block them if you don't want them messaging you. Hope it helps

First block the fake account, and report it. In my opinion about "involving police", keep it as next level since there is no actual threatening or abusing from the fake account.

police is already involved!! the one messaging you is a undercover police officer.. so run run run!!!
