I recently bought the CD for 'Portal'. It can only be loaded onto one computer, so i want to load it onto my computer that i have access to 24/7 rather than the family computer that i have limited access to. However my computer doesn't have internet access. Is there a way for me to load steam on my computer without having an internet connection, and do i need to have the connection avaliable to play the game. Or would it be possible to connect my computer to the internet temporarily, download steam and then play the game offline?

Yes the second solution work. Download Steam on a temporary internet connection, then make sure you check "Remember password." That way, in the future you can use Steam offline.
