New House, what broadband, phone line should I get? - TheGamE - 05-02-2014 08:28 AM

I am moving into a new house and there doesn't seem to be a phone line installed.

I have been going through some providers but can't make my mind up as to who to go with.

My main aim is to get a broadband connection as my work is based on the internet. Will hardly be using the phone as well as the TV. (But wouldn't mind getting them if the deal is good).

I am kind of attracted to Virgin's bundle service, as the internet speed they offer is quite good.

But I would prefer suggestions from you guys as to who I should go with, keep in mind, I have no phone line 'installed' in the house (no little phone box). What would be best for me for the future?

Thanks.

Unless there is cable installed in the area you will have to have a BT phone line. I was with Virgin who I found efficient. Phone them up and talk it through.

BT are the biggest and best. If you need support it is always available. BT fibre optic is top notch too.

well if you have no telephone line installed, then i would go possible with virginmedia, since that doesnt require any telephone line access since its done via cable. since you would need a active telephone line to use eg bt/talktalk/plusnet etc... if you need a fast upload speed you would need to goto BT etc.. since the max upload speed on virginmedia is 12mb on the 152mb package.

Try BT because they have good deals going all the time and you could well get the line in for nowt, their Broadband is good and you can always shift to someone like Virgin later after your contract term has ended with BT; but you will then have a line ready to bargain play all the other Broadband suitors as and when you feel like a change of contract.

It doesn't matter who installs the wires its all the same. Chose based on the provider you want to use. But you need cable in your house for internet/tv

Not quite sure where you live. But if you happen to be from the land down under, you can compare the best mobile broadband deals via an online comparison site like CompareBroadband.
