Sharing Internet Connection wireless? - A - 05-02-2014 09:51 AM

i guess my question is stupid:

i have a laptop with a wireless card for internet,
my friend has a laptop with a wireless card for internet,
he also has internet connection (Not wireless)
can we share wirelessly his internet connection without buying any router or any instrument?

if yes, how.

Cheers

You can if you use a fairly recent Microsoft Windows operating system, google for "Internet connection sharing" but in all honesty it is not great and with the price of hardware at the moment buy a cheap wireless router and be done with it ;-)

For ICS see the below link

It is possible to do this, however, both PCs need to remain within range on one another to allow for this. Using one PC, create a wired internet connection (by using ethernet cable to connect to the router or cable modem) then, on the hose (connected computer) configre the wireless card to work in ad-hoc mode - you will need to consult the wireless network adapter documentation to do this.

Once completed, you will need to bridge the wired and wireless connections (unsure of which OS you are using, you will need to google for the answer to "how to bring wired and wireless connections" and I'm sure you'll find an answer.)

Upon completion of these steps, the second computer can connect to the ad-hoc wireless network (it will show in the list of available networks, usually with a different icon) and have internet connectivity.

Hope this helps.

sharing an internet connection either requires that the 2 computers be networked together. This can be achieved via wifi. host computer with internet then needs to share the internet connection.

first, connect them in wireless network. in properties set 'allow internet sharing' one computer as host another one as guest. then..
